ABOUT SaSiEl

SaSiEl was founded by a neurodivergent woman who became frustrated at the lack of Safe Simple Elegant bags and jewellery that were easy to use, sustainable, and affordable.

 SaSiEl has a sister retailer, ND Comfy, that offers adults’ comfy clothing basics made from natural fibres with sensory comfort a priority. SaSiEl continues that ethos by procuring bags, backpacks, wallets, and jewellery that are:

  • Safe and Simple to use focusing on procuring bags with zips, adjustable straps for crossbody wear, magnetic latches, push locks etc, and rings where the stone/s are bezel set or inlaid set and sit flush to the skin.
  • Elegant in style - genuine leather bags, simple gold-plated sterling silver jewellery with only moissanite stones with 3-5mm single-band rings and flat-laying chains
  • Durable (to combat dyspraxia), and sustainable

SOURCING CRITERIA

BAGS, BACKPACKS, AND WALLETS     

  • Outer material must be genuine leather to ensure durability, elegance, sustainability, and sensory comfort.   

  • Fastenings must be secure and easy to use, especially for people with fine motor skills challenges – we have chosen magnets, zippers, press studs, and slide lock closings.

  • Most bags are adaptable to be a crossbody style ensuring people of all mobility levels can wear the bags.

  • Most bags have a light coloured lining for the internal cavity for ease of sight and depth perception.

  • Most bags have metal feet to elevate the bag from the floor or ground.

  • Most wallets have a handle for carrying separately and ease of access inside a larger bag.

  • All large totes, messenger bags, satchels, bucket bags, and backpacks must be big enough to contain an electronic tablet and/or laptop securely and safely within.

  • Colours chosen for styles must be neutral, calming colours that can be worn with almost any clothing style.

  • All styles must be suitable for all genders, multi-purpose, and fit-for-purpose.

JEWELLERY

  • Base metals must be either 14K or 18K gold, or 925 Sterling silver, or Tungsten/carbide blend.

  • All gold-plating must be either 14K or 18K, plated to minimum of 3 microns, or rhodium-plated.

  • All pieces must sit flush to the skin to reduce irritation, and accidental damage from knocks and pulling.

  • All stones must be set in a bezel setting to ensure stone safety and setting integrity, protecting the stone against accidental knocks or drops.

  • All rings must have a band width of between 2mm and 5mm to maintain structural integrity of the ring, and for comfort without the finger feeling ‘choked’.

  • All chains are constructed using a Cuban-style link of between 3mm to 6mm width for safety, durability, smoothness, and sensory comfort.

  • All styles must be suitable for all genders ensuring that most ring sizes range between 5 and 9, that most bracelets measure between 16cm and 21cm in length, and most necklaces measure between 45cm and 65cm in length.
